The owners of a 2012 Honda Civic contacted the Pleasant Hill Police Department to report that their vehicle had been stolen. The victims advised their Honda had been taken from their residence.

The Pleasant Hill PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Honda Civic.

A short while later officers from the California Highway Patrol Air Operations Unit picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Honda with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Honda to the area of a premium outlet mall in the city of Livermore on El Charro Rd near I-580. The air unit directed in the Livermore Police Department ground units who located the Honda parked and abandoned in the mall parking lot.  Surveillance was set up and a male suspect was observed entering the stolen Honda. The suspect was taken into custody by the Livermore PD.

The Honda was recovered and released to the owner.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Honda Civic in June 2012 at Concord Honda in California.
