The owners of a 2008 Porsche Carrera contacted the Santa Monica Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen. The SMPD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Porsche.

A short time later, the SMPD patrol officers picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Porsche with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in their patrol vehicles. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Porsche to an auto repair shop in the area of the 2200 Block of Delaware. While the officers were conducting their investigation, they observed the suspect involved in the theft, throw the vehicle keys away. The officers took the suspect into custody for auto theft related charges without incident.
The Porsche was released to the owner.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Porsche in January 2008 at Champion Porsche Audi in Pompano Beach, Florida.
