The owner of a 2015 Chevrolet Spark called the Los Alamos Police Department to report their vehicle was stolen by a known subject. The Los Alamos PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Chevrolet.

Shortly after an hour of the entry, and nearly 100 miles away from the original theft location, officers with the New Mexico State Police and the Albuquerque Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Chevrolet with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles. Following the audible and directional cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Chevrolet to an apartment complex parking lot located in the Northeast Area Command. The officers located the Chevrolet and observed it was occupied. Officers took the subject into custody and identified him as the original offender. The Chevrolet was recovered and towed from the scene for safekeeping to be released to the owner at a later date.
