The owner of a 2007 Cadillac Escalade had loaned his vehicle to an acquaintance for a couple of weeks. After several months and numerous attempts to have his “friend” return the Cadillac, the owner contacted the Miami Gardens Police Department to report their vehicle stolen. The police verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Cadillac.
Later that evening, some 1,266 miles away, a Linden (New Jersey) Police Department officer picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Escalade on their on-board LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC). The officer began tracking the stolen Cadillac by following the directional and audible cues on their PTC screen. The officer lost the signal as the stolen Cadillac was on the move and apparently moving quite fast.

In the early hours of the next morning, and approximately 38 miles north, a Yonkers (New York) Police Department officer picked up the signal and began tracking it. They tracked it into a residential area of Yonkers and located the Cadillac parked and unoccupied. The department’s auto theft unit responded and established surveillance on the Cadillac. Their patience paid off as they observed a subject entering the Cadillac. The detectives converged upon the Cadillac and apprehended the subject before they could drive off, eliminating the possibility of a dangerous high speed pursuit. The Cadillac was recovered without any damage. The owner was contacted and was elated that their Cadillac was recovered quickly, without any damage, and an arrest of the culprit. They were also quite happy that their Cadillac dealer equipped their vehicle with the LoJack® System. That investment really paid off. The Cadillac was towed to the police impound yard for safekeeping, and removed from state and federal crime information computer systems.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2007 Cadillac Escalade in August 2010 by Ed Morse Chevrolet Sawgrass in Sunrise, Florida.
