LoJack® System Helps Prince George’s County Police Department Recover Stolen Mercedes

The owner of a 2013 Mercedes Benz C-250 contacted the Prince George’s County Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from their home. The Mercedes engine was running with keys in the ignition and unattended in the District Heights area of Prince Georges County, Maryland.
The Prince George’s County PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the 2013 Mercedes Benz C-250.
A short while later officers in the United States Park Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen 2013 Mercedes Benz C-250 with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in their patrol vehicles. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Mercedes to the 1600 block 11th Place NE in Washington, DC. At that location, officers observed the Mercedes parked and unoccupied. Detectives from the Washington Area Vehicle Enforcement unit were contacted and they responded to the location. Surveillance of the Mercedes resulted in the arrest of a suspect when he/she returned to the vehicle with the keys and attempted to leave the area. The suspect was arrested and detectives recovered the undamaged 2013Mercedes Benz C-250.
The LoJack® System was installed in the 2013 Mercedes Benz C-250 during October 2014 at Select Auto Imports in Alexandria, Virginia
