LoJack® System Helps Daytona Beach Police Department Recover Stolen Toyota Camry and Arrest Burglary Suspect

The owner of a 2007 Toyota Camry contacted the Port Orange Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen and that she believed it was possibly her grandson that stole the Toyota.
The Port Orange PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota.
A short while later officers from the Daytona Beach PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Toyota with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. They were joined by a deputy from the Volusia County SO K-9 Unit. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers and deputy tracked the Toyota to a residential area near interstate 95 and state road 92 in Daytona Beach.
As the officers tracked the Toyota they observed it being operated by a male driver with a female passenger. They stopped the Camry and both persons were removed from the car. The male driving the Camry was the grandson of the owner and it was determined that he was wanted for several burglaries of residences in Daytona Beach.
The LoJack® System was installed in the Toyota Camry in February 2007 at Daytona Toyota in Daytona Beach, Florida.
