The LoJack® System Helps Recover Stolen Generator

During the morning of October 17th the owner of a 2006 Airman Generator discovered that their trailer mounted generator had been stolen from a job site in Springville, Utah. They immediately called the Springville Police Department to report the theft. The Police Department verified the theft and entered the equipment’s information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the stolen generator.
A short while later troopers with the Utah Highway Patrol began picking up the silent signals coming from the LoJack® System installed in the stolen generator with their Police Tracking Computers (PTC) installed in their patrol vehicles. At the same time an officer with the Salt Lake City Police also picked up the signals and started tracking the stolen generator. Following the directional and audible cues on the PTC the troopers and officer tracked the stolen generator attached to a parked van. The van was seized with suspected stolen property besides the generator. The suspect was identified and the investigation continues. The stolen generator was tracked and located 45 miles away from where it had been taken. The total recovery took less than 3 hours!

The LoJack® Stolen Vehicle Recovery System was installed on the generator in April, 2008.
