When the Toyota Tacoma owner in this case had the LoJack® system installed at the time of purchase, he probably didn’t anticipate his truck being stolen just eight months later, but he was smart enough to be prepared, and local law enforcement was able to track it down that same day.

On June 8th, 2013, the Toyota’s owner contacted San Diego Police Department to report his vehicle was stolen. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. The LoJack transponder concealed in the Tacoma, which was installed at Toyota Chula Vista in Chula Vista, CA, was then automatically activated.

A short while later, officers from the Los Angeles Police Department picked up the homing signals from the stolen truck on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The officers tracked the vehicle to a parking lot at Venice Beach in LA. The owner was very happy that his Tacoma, valued at approximately $30,100, had been recovered.
