On April 28th, 2013, a stunned couple called police to report that they were  victims of a home invasion. Suspects broke into their home and confronted the terrified owners with a semi-automatic hand gun. They demanded the keys to the victims Mercedes-Benz, Bentley and Ferrari. The suspects drove off in the Mercedes and Bentley, but were unable to take the Ferrari.

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department verified the theft and entered the two vehicle’s information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack© transponder concealed in the Mercedes. The Bentley was not equipped with a LoJack Stolen Vehicle Recovery System.

Within minutes, an officer from the Santa Monica College Police Department picked up the silent LoJack© system signal in his police cruiser and  tracked the vehicle into the city of Los Angeles.  A “high risk” traffic stop was initiated and the suspects were taken into custody without further incident.  The recovered Mercedes-Benz was undamaged.  Upon the arrest of the suspects, deputies located the keys to the 2007 Bentley in the pockets of one of the suspects.  They searched the area and located the undamaged 2007 Bentley parked around the corner and recovered it also.  The recovered Mercedes  is valued at $61,280 and the Bentley $200,000 bringing a total amount of the recovery to $261.280.00

The LoJack Stolen Vehicle Recovery System was installed in 2010 at Mercedes-Benz of San Diego.
