New Jersey State Police Recover 2007 Hummer H3 Assisted by the LoJack® System

It’s not a good idea to leave your vehicle running and unattended, even for a moment. Auto thieves will often linger at places where this frequently happens, such as convenience stores and self-service gas stations, hoping to take advantage of someone’s carelessness.
On April 21st, 2013, the owner of a 2007 Hummer H3 contacted the Newark, NJ Police Department to report that his vehicle had been stolen. The customer stopped at a convenience store at 1:30 AM and left his Hummer running in the parking lot. While he was in the store, someone jumped in the SUV and took off.
The Newark PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into their state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack® device concealed in the H3, which was installed at Royal Cadillac in Florham Park, NJ.
A short time later, a trooper with the New Jersey State Police picked up the homing signals from the stolen Hummer on the LoJack tracking computer installed in his patrol vehicle. The trooper tracked the vehicle to Central Ave and 5th Street in Newark, where the H3 was stopped and the driver arrested. The Hummer was soon returned to its happy owner.
