HOUSTON – A stolen pickup led deputy constables to a stash house, and investigators made another big discovery at a neighboring home.

Harris County Precinct 4 deputy constables said LoJack Corporation alerted them to a stolen pickup and they followed it to a home in the 1100 block of Sawgrass Ridge Lane near Grovedale Drive in northwest Harris County.

Investigators said they searched the home and found 21 suspected illegal immigrants inside. The 16 men and women were are from El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Mexico, according to federal officials.

Deputy constables said they noticed a strong odor coming from a neighboring home and their drug dogs were drawn to it. They said they got a search warrant and discovered an elaborate marijuana grow house.

“It’s very elaborate, it has upscale lighting and humidifiers and everything you would need to grow in an optimum way,” said Lt. David Escobar.

About $500,000 worth of marijuana was being grown, investigators said.

“We have not received any reports at this residence. No phone calls regarding illegal drugs,” said Escobar.
