LoJack Corporation Leads Police to Stolen Rental Equipment

The manager of the equipment rental department of a home improvement store was conducting inventory and discovered a track loader had not been returned as promised. After numerous attempts to locate the person who rented the piece of equipment the manager called the Denham Springs Police Department to report the track loader stolen.
The Denham Police verified the theft and entered the equipment’s information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the 2012 Terex Track Loader.
Twelve hours after the piece of equipment was reported stolen, officers on patrol from Baton Rouge Police Department picked up the silent LoJack homing signals coming from the track loader on the Police Tracking Computers installed in their patrol vehicles. Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack computers, the officers from Baton Rouge along with Denham Springs Police unit tracked the equipment onto a Range Road and conducted a felony stop on the truck that was towing the equipment. The passenger decided he wanted nothing to do with the police and attempted to flee. He was apprehended and found to be in possession of various illegal drugs and was booked according. The driver was arrested and charged with possession of the stolen equipment.
The officers called the store manager who arrived on the scene and took possession of the equipment.
The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed on the equipment in 2012.
