Well-Known Motorcycle Thief Apprehended by Dallas Texas Police for Theft of a Kawasaki ZX10

On the night of March 3, 2012, the owner of a 2009 Kawasaki ZX10 motorcycle reported the bike stolen to the Plano Police Department. After preparing the stolen vehicle report, Plano officers had the motorcycle’s information entered into the state and federal police computer systems. This routine police action automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Kawaski.
A short while later, a Dallas Police helicopter picked up the silent LoJack homing signal emitting from the stolen Kawasaki on the LoJack Police Tracking Computer installed in their aircraft. Following the directional cues from the computer, the flight officers tracked the stolen motorcycle and observed a suspect operating it in a residential neighborhood. The suspect tried to outrun the police helicopter, but was unsuccessful. The police helicopter directed ground units to the stolen motorcycle’s location. As the units converged upon the motorcycle, the suspect attempted to flee, but the motorcycle stalled and the suspect was quickly apprehended. The suspect is a well-known motorcycle thief, who had just been released from prison.
