1971 Chevrolet Chevelle Classic Tracked and Recovered by LAPD South West Division

The owner of a 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle Classic dropped his car off at a custom repair shop in Los Angeles for repairs, where it was left over night in the parking lot of the shop, when it was stolen.

The victim was notified on April 20, 2011 that the car had been stolen and reported it to the Los Angeles Police Department-South West Division. The LAPD entered the vehicle into the National Crime Information Center computers which activated the hidden LoJack transponder in the vehicle.

Within eight minutes of activation, officers from the LAPD-South West Division began tracking the vehicle and located it in a short time, parked and abandoned on 41stPlace and Avalon St, in Los Angeles, CA.

The vehicle was processed and released to the owner in the field, with minor damage to the ignition and missing its sound system. The owner of the stolen Chevelle indicated that he has invested $40,000 into his Classic and is very grateful that he purchased a LoJack Stolen Vehicle Recovery System, saying, “It got my baby back.”
