The owner of a 2011 Lexus RX350 was standing beside her car outside her home on a recent Monday. Suddenly, a male approached, jumped into her vehicle and took off. This victim was glad she had decided to have the LoJack® system installed when purchasing her car just five month before. With LoJack’s help, local police were able to make a same-day recovery and take the suspected thief into custody.

On June 2nd, 2014, the owner of the Lexus contacted the Irvington Police Department to report that her vehicle had been stolen. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This action automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the RX350, which was installed at Lexus of Edison, NJ.

A short while later, officers from the Union County Police Department and the New Jersey State Police Auto Theft Unit picked up the silent homing signals coming from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The Lexus was located on First Street in Elizabeth, where it was found parked and unoccupied. After a brief surveillance, the suspect returned to the car and was taken into custody. The RX350, valued at $33,875, was soon returned to its very happy owner.
